Hey all,
Bear with me, as I am an in-training IT student. Just began not too long ago.
I did a clean install/upgrade to Windows 7 professional and everything was wonderful and worked great, no issues at all. However I do have an issue now. For one of my classes I had to use a live Linux cd for programming. It would not work, so I ejected the CD and rebooted the computer. Since then, my laptop and Windows 7 does not recognize that I have a CD/DVD drive at all. It's not intermittent, it's just gone! Google has not given me any clear answers...
I have an HP Pavilion DV9715 laptop, and the drive is internal. I never bothered before or cared to know the manufacturer and now I have no idea. This is what I have tried, I checked device manager and it does not show up there, I tried to install a new device, but Windows 7 does not recognize any devices to be installed. I thought perhaps the drive was bad, but I don't think it is. Right after I lost the drive, about a week later, it randomly re-appeared and worked for about a day. Since it disappeared again it hasn't come back. Any insight would be wonderful.
Thanks for your patience with me!
Ashley
